My name is Roy Asser.  I am a fine art photographer and author, and Past President of The Association of Historical & Fine Art Photography.  Some years ago I was privileged to meet twenty-four Battle of Britain veterans, some of whom became firm friends.

I created a book which portrayed their experiences of the Battle from mementoes they had kept from the time, together with letters and documents exchanged between us. The latter intended to ensure the accuracy of the stories behind the images.

Whilst that first book, THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN:The Camera’s View is acknowledged to be a valuable insight into the men who fought the Battle, I would like to add to our knowledge of them by producing a companion volume that would contain mini-biographies and accounts from people who knew them.  In this way it will be possible to give as complete as possible record to future historians of  remarkable men, rightly regarded as being among the cream of a generation.

Can you help me?  I would greatly appreciate receiving any information you may have, be it anecdotes, records of conversations or meetings.  In fact anything that advances our knowledge of the men and their unique contribution to history.

How to submit material is explained on another page.  All submissions will be acknowledged and credited in the subsequent publication.

The book will be a not-for-profit venture, any surplus being donated to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
